We've been talking for awhile about upgrading Logan's room to a more "big boy" one. He was doing fine in his toddler bed, but since we moved into the new house his room has zero personality. In our old house, we had just switched out his crib with a toddler bed, but I didn't wanted to paint and decorate his new room the way that his nursery was. So, his room has been in limbo since we bought this house. Last weekend we were out shopping and all three fell in love with this twin sized bed. Right now, it is set up as a single bed, but in a few years we can flip it upside down and it will become bunk beds! (You see the ladder up against the wall?) He absolutely LOVES it. We also added the canopy so it looks like he is seeing the stars at night! So cute!
Right after Shane got the bed put together

All tucked in his first night in the new bed. We got those nightlights too, which he loves because he can turn them on and off by himself. When he is done reading his books at night, he turns one of them off and leaves the other one on to sleep.

We also got a large red distressed dresser. We're planning on doing his room in a variety of colors so we can switch things up as he gets bigger. I think we're going to paint the walls a light grass green and use the royal blue, red, orange and a little yellow. Luckily, we have 4 bedrooms in this house. Upstairs, we have my work room/guest bedroom, Logan's room, and then a spare room where we have all of Logan's old furniture.
We went to a Superbowl party last night and Logan has so much fun with the couple's daughter who was 8. He just loves big kids! Poor girl, he followed her around all night! And, he keeps asking to go see her again this morning.
I've been working pretty hard on my shop and fan page on
Facebook (
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kalamity-Kids/129555538228.) I'm debating starting a
Kalamity Kids blog....my main hesitation is that I'm not sure if I have the time to maintain my shop,
FB page AND a blog, in addition to working on products and everything else that I do. But, I know that most people who have successful
Etsy shops DO have blogs. It is a great way to spread the word about your products and also to connect with others who have blogs. So far, I feel like
FB has been a pretty great business resource for me, although I feel ancient when I try to figure it out. I swear, I graduated college 7 years ago and there was no mention of
FB then-Ha!
Let's see, what else?? I went to my orientation with the SPCA of Texas this weekend. (I have to be a volunteer with them in order to take Lucy to Medical City Children's Hospital.) Their location in McKinney is awesome! I was extremely impressed. They have a ton of land for livestock outside--they had lots of horses and donkeys--and great inside space. They did tell me that someone had come in and adopted all of the horses and donkeys that were in one of the pastures (I think it was about 10 of them) and was picking them up this week. They do daily playgroups for the dogs in this big open yard and also handfill Kongs with wet dog food and treats, then freeze them. Each dog gets a filled Kong every day. They have huge kitty rooms where the cats are just hanging out together--so fun! But, they get a lot of animals that have been confiscated due to mistreatment. They had 6 pit bulls they had just received, one of which was very pregnant, that were sooooo skinny. They had Mama Pit in the nice heated horse stable and she had a quite luxury suite all by herself. You could tell that everyone there truly loved the animals and that they worked hard to keep everything clean and nice for them. I was impressed!
