The Boys
I started thinking today about how much has really changed over the last few months with the boys and our family. I decided to do a blog entry on what they're up to and learning these days. Then, I promise I'll update with some Christmas and other pictures from the last few weeks as soon as I can.
LOGAN 3 1/2 YEARS
Logan amazes me every day with the kinds of questions he asks and the way his mind is working. Just today he asked, "Mommy, what's in carpet?" I said, "Ummmm, I'm not sure what carpet is made out of." And, he said, "I bet Daddy knows." (Shane if you're reading this you might want to google the composition of carpet before you come home.) Can you tell he's a Daddy's boy?! He really, truly thinks Shane hung the moon. Preschool has been wonderful for him. He can spell his name now and recognize it in print. Today he pulled all of his bathtub letters and "wrote" his name on the wall. He's learning his lower case letters and now says "little a" for the lower case A. He constantly asks how to spell things and will ask many, many words in a row. We spend a lot of our car time spelling words for him. He LOVES his baby brother and will give him kisses and say, "Graham, I love you" totally unprompted. It warms my heart! He was really gracious with Christmas which makes me feel like maybe we're doing something right. He told everyone thank you for his gifts and seemed excited and grateful for them all. He's a big boy now and is over 40 lbs and tall. Very tall. He's wearing 4T-5T clothing! I just cannot believe it. He is definitely starting to assert his independence and we find ourselves rationalizing with him regularly. Sometimes I find myself saying, "because I said so!" Ha ha ha. He talks all the time. All. The. Time. and goes full speed all day long.
GRAHAM 11 WEEKS
Graham is the happiest baby I know and, I'm not just saying that! Even when he wakes up in the middle of the night to eat, he kind of grunts and squirms in his bed until I pick him up. He doesn't even cry! Then, when I pick him up he gives me this big grin like he is so happy to see me =) How can you be upset about waking up in the middle of the night for that? During the day, the only times he cries is when he needs a diaper change, he's hungry or tired (usually it's because he is tired.) The first few weeks he needed to be held a lot and wouldn't really nap unless I was holding him, which honestly I didn't mind too much. Now, he's napping pretty well in his swing during the day. We're a little worried about the right side of his head still being flat. The pediatrician has been watching it since his one month check up and it wasn't much better by two months. He's threatening us with a helmet if it's not better by his 3 month check up next week. We've been putting him on his side to sleep at night (per the doctor's orders) and it seems to be helping. Fingers crossed! I would be heart broken if he had to get a helmet =( He's still breastfeeding well and gaining weight slow and steady. I am very proud that we've made it to 12 weeks without giving him any formula! (Nothing against formula, I'm just proud I've been able to only breastfeed without supplementing early on this time around.) I've been weighing him weekly to keep tabs on his weight and I'm super excited that in the last 3 weeks he's gained a pound and a half! Yay, Graham! That puts him up to 12 lbs 2 oz.
To sum up the last few weeks, I'd say we've just been living life and super busy. My business really picked up in the few weeks before Christmas in addition to completing an order for some crib bedding. Every spare second I was either holding a baby, nursing a baby, or sewing and sometimes a combination of those things. I didn't even finish my Christmas shopping until December 23rd this year. Whew, cutting it close! And, I never got my free Christmas cards ordered from Shutterfly. I just let that go and decided we'd send New Years cards this year (which are ordered.) We've been enjoying this quiet week after Christmas, resting up, playing with all the boys new toys and hanging out in our pajamas! It's been a much needed break for us.
I'll update with more pictures soon! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!!
