Last week of August

I'm going to try to do a better job of keeping up with things on here... things lately have just been a whirlwind for me. Most of you know that my Dad has cancer and since I have chosen to not to blog about it, sometimes I find myself struggling with what to post here. This is an incredibly emotional and difficult time for me and my family, and I ask for your prayers as we work to continue to focus on the positive things. I'm going to try to renew my commitment which was to continue to blog about our family and the happy, joyful things in our life. (You can read more about this here: http://kamionedayatatime.blogspot.com/2009/07/update.html)

We had an eventful week! Sunday was my parents 40th wedding anniversary (Congratulations, Mom and Dad!!) so, we spent the day over there to celebrate with them. Logan wanted to take a dip in the pool so here are a few pictures of us swimming.

He was loving Shane throwing him up in the air!

We enjoyed getting to see all three of them, and I know that it meant a lot to my Dad. It also happened to be my Granddad's birthday, which made it even more special.

Tuesday night, we had dinner with Shane's family and enjoyed spending time with his niece who was visiting. She had a new kitten which Logan loved!

Wednesday my Dad turned 61 and we had dinner over there to celebrate. Here is Logan giving him the birthday present that he made him. He painted him a little wooden car and added the decal stickers and everything. He even picked out the train gift bag all by himself. He couldn't wait to give it to Granddad! The sweet girls in my playgroup talked me into letting them do a small shower for the new baby. It meant so much to me and was such a great celebration of the little life growing inside of me. These days, I'm all about celebrating every little thing that can be celebrated and am learning to accept kindness that is offered. I think it's a tough lesson in humility to accept help and the kindness of others sometimes...but if I've learned anything in the last year since my Dad got sick, I've learned how important good friends and family are. Here are a few pictures from today.

They did this really funny game where everyone cut a piece of ribbon the length that they would go around my belly. It cracked me up!
We've also had both of Logan's preschool orientations this week. Shane and I went to our parents one on Thursday night, and I took Logan to his open house this morning. He did remarkably well! He loved his classroom and is really excited to have three teachers. He talked with all of them individually and answered their questions about him. Here's hoping Tuesday goes that well! I think Mommy and Daddy are more nervous then he is :)
