One Day at a Time...

I really do LOVE Shutterfly. I order cards and invitations from there all the time. ALL. THE. TIME. Love it! So....when I heard about this blogger promotion to get 50 FREE Christmas Cards (okay, I'll tone it down with the capital letters, LOL) I knew I had to do it! Here are just a few of the reasons that I love Shutterfly and a few of the things I love on their website.

I'm excited to order our Christmas cards for 2010. They have really cute ones and always have wonderful quality. Just in the last year alone, I have ordered cards from Shutterfly for Logan's 3rd birthday and for Graham's birth announcements. Here are the links to the ones that I used:

Hard to believe that Graham will be 6 weeks old tomorrow! The time is FLYING by. Every night I'm sad to think he is another day older....but I will say that I am appreciating every single day of this newborn stage. My attitude is generally pretty good, even at 3am, because I know how short this phase is. I know that someday very soon, he'll be sleeping through the night in his own room and I'll long for the days when wanted me to snuggle with him until he fell asleep. Pretty soon, we'll be eating cake at his first birthday party wondering where the last year went.

He had his one month check up two weeks ago, and got a glowing report. He had gained well over the weight that he needed and the pediatrician was thrilled (Mommy was too!!) I haven't had to supplement at all this time around which is wonderful. I even have a freezer stash of milk already! Woo hoo! Already, Graham is changing and growing. He started really smiling over the weekend, which we're loving, and he's also started cooing a little bit. We're getting into a tiny bit of a routine and I even had two hours yesterday afternoon that both of the boys were asleep and I could sew. It was a heaven! I'm loving my Moby wrap and "wear" Graham often (like now for example. Sometimes it's the only way he'll sleep and I can get a few things done.) I'm relaxing a bit on taking him out and about now that he's a few weeks older. It's been nice to get out of the house a little bit more. And, honestly, so far it hasn't been as hard with two as I thought it would be. I think Logan's at a good age and is generally well behaved enough to stay with me in a store or hold onto the cart or stroller. That definitely makes a huge difference. The biggest thing I'm struggling with is finding baby free time to give Logan one-on-one attention. It seems like I'm always either holding or nursing the baby, and that makes it difficult to play the way we used to. But, we're getting creative and making it work and Daddy has been awesome at taking over with Logan in the evenings--you should see the crazy train track wrapped around my playroom right now ;)

Okay, I think that catches you up on us! I'll try not to let two weeks go by before I update again...

This was kind of an emotional weekend for all of us. On Saturday, we had a small inurnment ceremony for my Dad. (He was cremated and had selected a spot at our churches new columburium. Dad is one of the first to be placed there.) It is a peaceful, secluded garden that has benches and will eventually have a fountain. I think it is going to be a beautiful place for us to go to remember and talk to him. I feel so thankful that he made this choice. It has made me feel even more connected to his resting place since it is at our church where we are so often. (It's also where Logan goes to preschool.) It brings me comfort that I can stop by during my every day routine and that I'll be able to bring the boys there regularly. I think all of us are still in the very early stages of mourning and that for me especially, this will be a long process. I still go to pick up the phone to call him and I think every day of something I want to tell him or ask him. I feel so grateful for the time that we had to say everything we wanted to say, but I still find myself wishing for more time. Even just a few minutes with him again....I'm not sure that will ever go away.

Sunday, my family had signed up to do the DFW Purple Stride walk for Pancreatic Cancer in honor of my Dad. We had registered to do the 1 mile family fun walk and, somehow, we wound up doing the 5K. But, we did it!! Even Graham went along for the ride. It was a great tribute to him for us all to be there together and the walk raised a lot of money for Pancreatic Cancer research (which is DESPERATELY needed. Seriously. It's one of the least funded cancers for research.) My cousin Kevin did the 5k timed and he won first place! We're so proud of him :) I am LOVING the pictures from the day and I just can't stop looking at them.

We had a wonderful Halloween weekend with our boys! On Saturday night, Logan got to help carve his pumpkin and bake pumpkin seeds for the first time. He loved it! Here is the pumpkin before... He is sort of frowning, but that is the one that he liked :)On Sunday morning, we took Graham to church for the first time because it was All Saints Day. This is where they say the names of everyone who has passed away over the last year. It was pretty sad, but they ended the service with a beautiful arrangement of When the Saints go Marching in--complete with a jazz clarinet and trombone. Awesome! Logan is doing great going to Sunday school now which makes me really happy! It's so wonderful to be able to go to church as a family.

(Side Note: I've been super paranoid about taking Graham out and about...whenever I have, I have worn him in my Moby wrap which completely covers him up. For anyone to see him, they have to ask and I have to pull the fabric back. This gives me the chance to take a step back so they can't touch him ;) He hasn't had his whooping cough vax yet (can't until 2 months) and with cold/flu season, I'm just super worried! I read that if they get a fever at this age, they have to admit them in the hospital and do a spinal tap :( I plan to ask his pediatrician tomorrow when I can begin to relax...I know with Logan, they told me not to take him anywhere until 8 weeks and he was born in the summer....Okay, back to Halloween.)

Shane took Logan to his parent's church for their Trunk-or-Treat. He loved it! Here he is trunk-or-treating and going down the huge slide.

Afterwards, we let Logan trick-or-treat at a few houses in our neighborhood. This is really the first year that he has "gotten" Halloween. Last year, we moved to TX on Halloween, and he spiked a fever the same day. This combined with the fact that he hated the idea of wearing a costume, kept him from trick-or-treating last year. So, we were glad he had a great time this year!
