Catching Up
These were taken a few weeks ago (Feb 28) when my parents came to visit. We were getting ready to go out to dinner.

Well, I've spent the last two days working trying to get my computer back up and running full-speed...I don't think that I have made much progress. I did buy an external hard drive and got all of my pictures backed up so that is a relief!!! But, apparently I have some malware and spyware so I am trying to get rid of that. I'm soooo sick of listening to my computer "spin" to process all of these scans. I can't wait until I'm all up and running again!!! I am sooo behind on all of my emails, not to mention my online bill paying....more updates soon--I promise!

Well, I have MAJOR camera/computer issues right now. I am unable to get my photo program to open at all on my computer. Therefore, I have wonderful pictures on my camera but I cannot get them onto the computer or onto my blog. BOOOO!!! I'm not sure what we're going to do...Shane messed with it forever over the weekend and we can't figure it out. Luckily, I can see the folders where my pictures are--so I know that they are not lost. I need to get an external hard drive to back them up before I continue messing with it anymore.
Otherwise, things here are going good. My parents were here over the weekend which was wonderful! Logan loved seeing them, and they couldn't believe how much he had grown. We went out to dinner on Saturday night which was so nice! Shane and I hardly ever do this, so it was such a treat. We were sad to see them go! Luckily, my Mom will be back in about a week to hang out with me and Logan while Shane goes on a trip.
I have been trying to prioritize things in my life lately! I have been getting pretty stressed out over things which has lead me to reevaluating what I am devoting my time to. I'm remembering that I am a stay at home mom so that I can be relaxed and devote my time to my son. But, I also MUST keep up some sort of "Kami" life that is mine and has nothing to do with being a mother...does that make any sense at all??
I have a dog evaluation on Sat which I am organizing. This always involves many many phone calls and emails trying to get everyone scheduled and set up. Plus, I will be at the eval all day on Sat. I'm still organizing a playgroup out here which has grown to about 25 moms!!! I am super excited about that. Luckily, my friend Megan is helping me keep up with everything. We're averaging 2-3 playdates per week. AND, I am still babysitting 2 days a week. Whew. Oh--and did I mention that the last time Lucy and I volunteered she decided she was afraid of the dark plastic crate??? So, we've been in serious training mode. I have probably spent hours and hours training with her over the last few weeks trying to get her ready for our visit on Thurs. (She has to ride in a crate to go up the elevator at the hospital.) Most of you know that I do NOT fool around with my dog training, so I'm not playing with this one. We're determined to work through it!!! You should see me jumping around like an idiot and crawling in the crate with her....TONS of positive reinforcement is the key!! Luckily, I have a friend on back up for our visit on Thurs if I do not think that she is crate ready yet....the odd thing is that she jumped in just fine on our first visit! I just do not get it....
Moving on...otherwise my volunteer stuff is going good but keeping my busy. I've committed to 2 monthly visits at the hospital, and 1 at another facility for children with behavioral disorders. I've also committed to do at least 1 visit per month at the hospital that I delivered Logan in when they launch their pet therapy program this summer. I"m also still hoping to pop in at the nursing home that we've been visiting over the last year, but my babysitting has made me unable to attend my normally scheduled time. And, we're in the midst of starting a therapy dog organization in the area to assist in launching pet therapy programs and provide support to other pet therapy teams. This also requires LOTS of emails and usually a meeting per month.
Logan has a bit of a cough right now, so we stayed in today. I'm hoping that he is feeling much better tomorrow! He hasn't ran a fever, so I'm hoping that it's just a mild cold. He's also still getting into everything...last week he climbed up on the dining room table and got a pen. Not only did he open it, but he drew all over his legs. He's also talking and talking. Granddad taught him to say "two" after he shoots a basket this weekend!
Hopefully, I can update with pictures soon....

But, with climbing have come the boo boos...yesterday while I was babysitting he fell off of a chair and busted his gums open right above his middle top two teeth. The poor little thing bled everywhere. It made me so sad! He is a trooper though, and only cried for a minute. He also fell a few weeks ago and wound up with several HUGE knots on his forehead. It just breaks your heart!
His latest thing is wanting to dip all of his food. He loves BBQ sauce and sugar free syrup for his waffles. Shane even convinced him to try ketchup the other day. (Most of you know that ketchup is my greatest enemy!) Today, I put some ready whip on his plate and he loved it! He really liked dipping his strawberries in there. He even said "more please." So cute! Some of his favorite new words are zip, oatmeal, yogurt, get it, apple and watch. He loves to name off everything while we're checking out at the grocery store!
We have just been busy busy! We've been planning more activities with our playgroup which is so fun. A lot of the kiddos had birthdays in Feb so we've had a lot of birthday parties to attend. Shane's had to be out of town one night last week and one night this week for meetings. We're getting more into storm season, so things will be picking up for him soon. I have another dog evaluation planned for the beginning of March, so I have been sending out a lot of emails and fielding phone calls to get everyone ready for that. I'm also fighting off a cold right now, so we're planning on taking it easy over the next few days. I was planning to attend my therapy dog monthly meeting tonight, but I don't want to pass this cold onto anyone else! Beyond that, I actually don't have much planned until the weekend. I'm really looking forward to staying home and taking it easy with Logan! I love all of our activities, but I really enjoy those days when we can just play together and hang out.

I just wanted to share a website that I am LOVING right now. It's www.mint.com and it's wonderful for all financial stuff! It's totally legit-I read about it in parents mag and it has all of the same protection that your on-line banking websites have. You can upload all of your accounts there and keep track of everything in one place. For example, if you have a checking account, savings account, car payment, student loans, mortgage, credit cards, etc you upload them all and it updates them everytime you log on. So, instead of having to individually log on to all of them seperatly, you can see your balances and information on them in one place. You can also put in the amounts of cars or any other big purchases that you have paid off and it will calculate your net worth everytime you log on. My absolute favorite thing is the budgeting. You can set different categories and it will automatically log things into the category that it thinks it should go into. (ex: Kroger always goes under groceries.) You can also move transactions into different categories or split up a transaction. (ex: if I buy dog food with my groceries, I can break the purchase down so part goes under pet food and part goes under groceries.) It tracks all of your budget categories by month and emails you if you go over in a category. And, it's all FREE! And, if you have a cc that you make purchases on everymonth (and probably pay off) it tracks those purchases with your debit card ones. So, you get an accurate indication of what you're spending even though you haven't made your cc payment yet. There are many, many great things about this site so if you are in need of something like this check it out.
One more thing, if you haven't done your taxes yet I recommend www.taxact.com. It is almost exactly the same as turbo tax which we usually buy for $50 plus fees. To do your federal return on taxact is free and our state only cost $13.95. We used it this year and I've already gotten our state return and confirmation that our federal one is coming!! Woo hoo!!
