A Simple Day

This morning started off kind of hectic because I had my volunteering with Lucy in the Oncology clinic at the Children's Hospital today. I have to be there at 10am which means, I have to get Logan over to a friends house (Thanks, Tracy!!!) to watch him by 9:15am. Plus, get all of his stuff, my stuff and Lucy's stuff all together and out the door. (Okay, I'm sure you working Moms are calling me a whiney baby right now....) Anways, Logan did great going to play with Connor and Lucy and I had a wonderful visit. Afterwards, we headed home to eat lunch and I put him down for a nap and got the first of the month bills paid. (Am I the only one who keeps crazy budget spreadsheets that take forever to input everything into? I'm soooo glad to have them but, whew, that sucked up his entire nap! But, it feels wonderful to get it done.) After naptime, we were off to the park to meet our playgroup for some fun.

Logan loves to drive the little cars on the playground. He can climb in and
almost out of these all by himself!
At the top of the slideGetting ready to slide down....Weeeee!!!!
Okay, these next set of pictures need some explaining. After the park, we had one of the funniest Kroger experiences ever. First off, Logan was talking. A LOT. To EVERYONE. And, singing. Loud. As in, singing his ABC's to every old lady who would listen. And, telling everyone that was two. And, cheering. As in, "Yeah! Milk!" "YEAH!! We got some milk!!!" Then, we get to the checkout, and the bagger asked him if he wanted a sticker. Of course, he said yes. Well, the bagger gave him about 5 stickers and folded up 15 more and stuck them in the little pocket on his shirt. By the time we got out to the car, this is what Logan looked like:
He wouldn't even look up at me or smile because he was so busy peeling all the stickers off and sticking them everywhere! (And, yes. I'm the crazy Mommy that takes my child's picture in the parking lot at Kroger.)
Then, we go to put the cart back and I lifted him out. He's holding his banana (which he was super excited about because we had been out for a day and it's one of his favorite things to eat.) He started yelling, "I'm Superman!!!!" Where in the world does he come up with this stuff?!? By this point, I'm laughing my rear end off and couldn't resist snapping another picture of him in his carseat eating his banana.
I was thinking the other day that I never posted pictures of Logan in his new toddler bed. Here you go! I took these tonight after we read our books. We had such a simple and fun day. He just lights up my life!!
Goodnight!!

Texas Pictures

Oh, man. This is picture overload! These are all from our latest trip to Texas to visit our families. We just got back on Sat, so I'm not toooo overdue getting them on here =) While we were there, my Dad turned SIXTY! Happy Birthday Dad!! These are from the celebrations...

Me and my Dad (excuse my appearance-we'd been in the pool all afternoon!)

Logan checking out pictures of Aunt Jill and Uncle Marty's dogs on his iphone

Who knows what he is doing here but this picture cracks me up!!

These next pictures are taken over at Shane's parents house. We're SO lucky to have both of our families just a few minutes away from each other. Shane's Dad also celebrated a birthday this week! Happy Birthday Steve!!

Here's Logan sitting on Grandpa's motorcycle bike (as he calls them) Hugging on Grandpa
Hanging out with Grandpa and Grandma
Sitting in the tree in their front yard (no-he did not get up there by himself! But doesn't he look like a big boy?!)
Back at my parents for some swimming =)

ABC's

Logan is so darn cute singing his ABC's all the time right now. For so long, I could NOT capture this on video and now, every time you get out any camera he starts singing them. In this video, he is on my parents bed and he had already sung them once but it was too quiet. So, my Mom told him to sing loud....you get the picture, lol. (Notice how he sings it T-V-U instead of T-U-V. It cracks us up every time!) Another funny thing happened this morning. Logan was singing row, row, row your boat and this is how his version went, "Row, row, row my boat, gently in my stream!!!" So funny!

We've spent the week in TX spending time with family. Shane had to go to Tulsa for most of the week, but rejoined us last night. I have lots of cute pictures especially since we were celebrating my Dad's 60th birthday. I also got some really good ones of Logan at Shane's parents house and with his Grandma and Grandpa. But, we're about to head back to AR, so no time to post them now.

Whew. What a week!

Just a quick note to say-Whew. What a week! Yesterday we had storytime, impromtu playtime at one of Logan's best buddies houses, rush home, put on swimsuits, give Lulubean a bath, nap, dinner, then off to the hospital with Lucy last night. Today we had playgroup here this morning, which went great. We have a lot of new members right now, which is wonderful! After playgroup, Logan went to sleep and I dove in working on stuff for a meeting tomorrow night and revisions for my new etsy site. Then, we made cupcakes and dinner this afternoon. Tomorrow, we have playgroup at this big church playground in the morning, home for lunch and nap and then off to town to hand off Logan to Daddy so I can make my meeting at 5:30pm. (Which by the way, did I mention that I was nominated VP??) Then, Thursday I have a check-up, Friday I have another visit with Lucy (which means another bath for her!) and we're off to TX. Whew. Okay. I'm not sure if I feel better putting it all out there, but it is what it is. =)

Neighborhood Watch Party

Friday night we had our neighborhood watch block party. The police came out in full force to support us! We had 4 police cars, a fire engine, 2 segways and even Mr. McGruff! The kids were so excited! Logan LOVED the fire engine, but once he got up close he wasn't so sure. The fireman was so nice and offered to let him sit in it. He was having none of that, lol. But, he asked to see the lights and the fireman turned them on for him. He was so excited! They made ID cards for the kids and brought cute stickers and fire hats for them.

Here's Logan in front of one of the cars the police brought. This one was a drug seize but it has a panther on it, which he liked. You can see his "badge" on his shirt.

Logan wouldn't stand or sit on the fire engine by himself. I guess he never realized how big they are until he was up close to one! But, here's Shane holding him in front of the fire engine. You can see all the neighborhood kids going crazy in the background! We have a few toys stashed in our attic that Shane's sister has passed down to Logan from our nephew, Cole. Shane remembered over the weekend that we had a wooden train up there. He got it out and set up and Logan has been in heaven ever since! We ran to Target yesterday and bought a few more pieces of track and the boys had so much fun laying it all out. (Please note that Mommy did the track in the picture. The one the boys were playing with over the weekend looked much cooler. But, I tried my best this morning!!)
Totally intent on playing. I kept asking him to smile and he'd say "No, Mommy. I playing!" Too funny!

This morning I heard the CUTEST conversation ever between my two guys. Logan had woken up earlier then usual (6:30am!) so I was still laying in bed as Shane was getting ready for work
and talking with Logan. I wish I could remember the entire thing to spell it out, but right before Shane left Logan asked for a kiss and a hug. The he said, "I love you Daddy!" Adorable. It just warms my heart =)

Saturday night I had a MNO (Mom's Night Out) which we try to do every month, but haven't the last month or so. We went to see The Time Travelers Wife and ate dinner at PF Changs. It was a much needed night out for me! The boys stayed home and made homemade ice cream (which was equally yummy the next day.)

I'm also working hard to get my etsy shop open by Oct 1! I'm waiting on my artwork to get done right now for my business cards and tags. Once that's done, I'll be able to order those and roll right along. Here's another peak at what I'm working on...
As soon as my shop is set up, I'll post the link on here. I'm planning on doing matching burp cloth sets, and diaper changing pads to coordinate with the bags. It's all starting to come together!

Catch up Monday

Belated picture updates....These were taken not this past weekend but the weekend before (8/1.) We had our first official "Family Time Weekend" which we're now planning to try to do the first weekend every month.

We started with a movie night on Saturday night. We made fun picnic food and ate on the floor in living room. We rented Bolt for Logan (he loved the puppy but I thought it was a little much for him.) Here are some pics...

Logan being Logan

Logan and Daddy getting ready to watch the movie. (We put all of the couch cushions on the floor with the big quilt. We also all put on our pj's at 5:30pm to watch the movie.)

Logan and Daddy playing during a movie break. Shane's under the blanket and
Logan thought it was hilarious.

Movie time....snuggling up together =)On Sunday (8/2) we went to the zoo and had a lot of fun. Here's Shane feeding the Lorikeets. Logan thought this was so cool! Logan and Mommy in front of the monkeys

Here are the boys feeding the fish. I think this was Logan's favorite part!!
Things with us are going okay. We're trying to stay busy and spend time together and with our close friends here. This past weekend we got a TON of house stuff done and I caught up on my sewing repairs (buttons, shortening straps, repairing inseams...etc.) We also had two wonderful evenings with friends. We are just so lucky to have met such wonderful people here. Saturday night we ate at Texas Roadhouse with 2 other families. Amazingly-all the little ones did perfect! Then Sunday, we went for a cookout and let the kids play in the sprinklers. (I forgot my camera!!) It was just the relaxing that we needed....I also did 2 visits with Lucy last week. This always helps me "center" and rejuvenates me a bit. When you look at Logan it's hard to be sad! I have to stay positive and know that we will just take everything one day at a time...

Sneak Peak

After this incident baking brownies:

I decided that Logan needed an apron to help me cook! So, yesterday I decided to make one. Here's how it turned out:

(Just in case you're zooming in on the picture, I have a safety pin holding one of the sides of the neck strap down. It has to be adjustable to sit right on his chest and still go over his head and I didn't have any velcro. I didn't want to make it tie because I was trying to keep it "manly.")

He's been so cute wanting to wear it and standing still (kind of) as I measured him for it. I just wing it when I do things like this so I'm always running after him with the measuring tape. I did make a pattern for it first, though because I thought it would be a cute item to sell on etsy. I also made a little pocket pattern piece, but decided to do his initial on this one instead. I'm having so much fun coming up with lots of different ideas--especially for little girls and I'm also planning to do some matching mother/daughter aprons. =)
