I think we found it!

We officially have a contract on a house!! Just when we had completely given up house hunting for awhile, a new one popped on the market that I just *had* to see. There were no pictures online, but we had looked at another house on the street already so we knew the neighborhood was good. We looked at it that afternoon and put an offer in the same night! The next day, we had agreed on the contract and had signed the papers. Today, we started the very nerve wrecking inspection process and had both a termite guy (which for all you AR gals--this is NOT mandatory here which I thought was odd) and the general inspector there this morning. The heat wasn't working right, so we have the heating/AC guy coming to check everything out tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it is just a minor repair, and we should be all set. Our closing date is December 10th and we are getting very excited!

A bit about the house....it was built in 1994 so it's not new, but not too old. They have just done new carpet and paint, but everything is white. White walls, trim, carpet (ish--sort of light neutral,) countertops, backsplash, and tile. And, most of you know that I am a major color person and I do not like white! So, in addition to some odds and ends, we'll be painting a ton-- ASAP. The kitchen is pretty outdated and basic, and we'd really love to be able to upgrade the appliances, paint/stain the cabinets and replace the countertops. The good news is that we're both very handy and not afraid of doing most of the work ourselves. In fact, we're looking forward to it! However, we will be hiring painters for the main family room since the walls are two stories high.

Pictures to come soon!!!

House Hunting

Oh my goodness. It has been a LONG time since I blogged! What have we been up to, you ask? Well....we sold our house!! Woo hoo! We actually sold it to some really good friends, so it worked out awesome for everyone. We closed last week so we are now officially homeless. (Well, not homeless I guess, but no longer home owners....) So, we have been house hunting non-stop. To give an accurate description, I'd have to tell you that we have looked at forty-six houses in 2 weeks. Yes--I said FORTY-SIX. We are just plain exhausted. We finally found one this weekend that we LOVE.....but.....we can't close on it until January. We have a big decision to make.....wait until January or keep house hunting??? I think we have really crappy timing on this with the new home buyers credit ending at the end of this month. Several months ago, there were tons of houses on the market in the areas that we are looking. Now, there just aren't that many and so we're having to look at things that aren't exactly what we were picturing. I guess all the first time home buyers snatched everything up?? Why is it that you never find what you're looking for when you're shopping with money to spend?? (I find this is true with clothes shopping too. When I have no money, I find tons of stuff. When I have money and am shopping for something specific, I can't find anything!!) It is super frustrating!!

In other news, Shane has been working 2 weeks at his new job and really likes it. We are so happy and relieved about this! It is always scary when you start a new job and have to start totally over. But, his boss seems really great and he has a really nice office. It seems like he has been able to jump right in which is wonderful! He even found out that his license will transfer so he doesn't have to take the Texas test which was rumored to be a booger.

We've settled in here at my parents house and are doing quite well considering we moved us, Booker, Lucy, Sebastian and quite a bit of stuff in! We moved the queen sized bed that is usually in the room that Logan is sleeping in to storage, and put his little toddler bed in there. This gave him plenty of room for his toys and made the room feel a little more like his. Lucy is really enjoying swimming in my parents pool and has requested that our new house have one. (Not going to happen!!) I've been sewing a lot this week and just finished a custom order for my sister-in-law to take to a baby shower today. I'm working on getting more things listed in the shop and trying to get my business back up and running in our new location.

So, in short, we're doing good and hanging in there. I'm missing my girl friends and Logan's friends in AR though. We have some wonderful friends there! We had such a great routine down and I feel very out of sorts. I'm loving being near the family, but right now we're just spending so much time looking for a house and doing practical things (like eating and sleeping!) that we haven't had much time for finding activities for Logan or settling in to any sort of normal weekly routine. But, we have been going to the park, playing outside and walking the dogs a lot though. My goal is to try out the library storytime this week and try to keep a more 'normal' schedule. Here's hoping!!

Moving to Texas

First off, let me just say that moving is a lot of work. A LOT. Shane took last week off of work and we packed and packed and packed and then moved and moved and moved. On Thursday, we picked up a 26 foot uhaul and a trailer. That afternoon, the AR movers arrived to load the truck. It was pouring the entire time!! We also had to disconnect our fridge this morning and clean it out, so we were without a fridge for Thursday and Friday. When the movers got the big truck loaded, we started cleaning the house and packing the trailer. Shane's parents drove in late that night to help us drive one of the cars back the next day. Friday morning, we got up bright and early and continued loading. Logan and I snuck out to a Halloween party (more about Halloween later) and then we all left in a convoy for Texas. We arrived in TX that night and were just plain exhausted!! And, there was still SO MUCH to do. Saturday morning we met the TX movers at our storage facility (where we have 3 units!!) and they unloaded the big truck. Shane and I unloaded the trailer and his truck and returned the trucks to uhaul. Then, we took another load to storage later that day. Whew!!! I can't believe we have to move all over again in a few months when we find a house. And, after not having a fridge and eating out all last week, I can't stand the thought of fast food or eating out for a long time!! It's so nice to be eating at home again. It was a really tough week for us, but we made it. A HUGE HUGE thanks to all of our family who helped us out, especially Shane's parents who drove to AR and helped us load up and drive down here. And, my parents who have opened up their home to us for awhile.

Here is a picture that I snapped of us packing in the kitchen.
Here is our last family picture in our Benton house. (Lucy is on the left and Booker is on the right. Kitty was already safe and sound in TX.)
Shane started his new job this morning and I can't wait to hear about it. Some more good news--we sold the house!! We're still a little in disbelief but are set to close later this week. Lots of prayers that everything goes according to plan with the appraisal and closing. Fingers crossed!!

me and michael urie

So....in the wedding I was in last Friday I was paired up with Micheal Urie from Ugly Betty. I was kind of bummed because I didn't get a picture of it. But, THEN--I just found these on FB. Woo hoo!!

Sarah's Wedding

Last night was one of my dearest friends wedding and it was beautiful! Here are just a few pictures from the night....

My parents were able to come for awhile and we took the opportunity to get some family pics!!

I love this picture of me and my Daddy!!

Camping

We were brave and went camping this weekend despite the yucky weather and COLD temperatures!! We just didn't want to disappoint Logan. He had been talking all week about sleeping in a tent. We wore lots of layers and actually really enjoyed our little family get away.

The boys setting up the tent
Woo hoo! The tent is up!He loved his little bed in the tent =) The boys bundled up by the fire
Brrrrrrr!!!!! (We tried to get Logan to wear his other hat with ear flaps but he only would wear this one. You win some, you lose some....)

"So....tell me about this smores thing again"
"Why didn't you tell me about smores before?? These are delicious!!"
In other news, we have a few serious lookers for our house. We're crossing our fingers for an offer soon! Logan and I are leaving this Friday for TX for over a week. My friend Sarah's wedding is the 23rd and there are bridal showers this weekend that I wanted to go to. So, we'll be taking a load (and a kitty) to my parents house. When we come back after the wedding it is MOVING WEEK! Shane has taken that week off of work, so we'll be packing and sorting getting ready for the movers to come on Oct 30th.
