Much Better...

Well, my eye is doing much better tonight! I went to the dr first thing on Monday and got antibiotic drops. He couldn't tell for sure that it was bacterical, and warned me that it could be a virus. I was so hopeful to get the all clear after being on the drops for after 24 hours, but no luck. He said I could still be contagious as long as I have symptoms. This morning, it was still matted shut when I woke up. Boo. So, Logan and I have stayed in the last two days. It's been some quality mommy/son time, though. I'm very hopeful that it will be okay tomorrow morning. I rescheduled our playgroup Easter Egg hunt for Friday which makes me feel much better. I was worried about handling the eggs and baking the Bunny Cake with possibly being contagious. You can't be too careful when it comes to the kiddos!

Also, I'm starting a new blog for all of my pet therapy stuff since it always seems to be leaking over here....I hate to bore you with it if you're just checking in here for Logan updates! Feel free to visit the new one at http://theadventuresoflucygoose.blogspot.com/ if you're interested in keeping up with all of that.

Mexico, Here we come!!!

Shane and I JUST booked a trip to Cancun and we couldn't be any more excited!! We're leaving in 3 weeks and staying for 3 nights. Woo hoo!! We used my old frequent flyer miles leftover from working (Thanks, Dillards!) and combined our Hilton points for the hotel. We have really been needing some beach time and just a weekend for the two of us. (Mom and Dad offered to keep Logan for us.) We can't wait!!!!

This morning Logan asked for "blue yogurt." How cute is that!? Of course, all I had was strawberry so we picked up some while we were out and about today. He's also started saying "screw bober" (screw driver! hee hee) What a cutie!

I'm hoping to get to the dr early in the morning for my GROSS pink eye. This morning when I woke up I could not open it at all. I had to go to the bathroom and hold a warm washcloth on there. Yuck!!

Garvan Gardens and Pink Eye

This morning I woke up and my eye was a little bit matted. I didn't think much of it, and went on about my morning. We had planned to go to Garvan Gardens today and we were really looking forward to it!! As the day progressed, it became clear that there was something wrong with my eye....turns out that another Mommy in my playgroup went to the doctor this morning (she was smart enough to know that something wasn't right when she woke up and her eye was matted....) and sure enough-pink eye! BUT, since I live in podunkville (yes-that's a word) and there are NO urgent care/prima care places here, I'm stuck without antibiotics until Monday. BOO. I'll spare you the details, but it is not a pretty picture.

The good news is, we had a wonderful day despite all of this! Logan LOVED all of the flowers and getting to see the coy pond. His favorite part were the ducks swimming around in the pond. He kept saying "ducks, ducks!!" Here are some pictures from our day.

My favorite one of Logan

Logan and Mommy

Sitting on the bench like a big boy!

My boys

Logan's been a busy boy lately! He is loving playing with the boys that I sit for and gets so excited when he knows we're going to see them. I was able to get some projects done this week that I had been putting off (photo albums and hard core cleaning the fridge! Eeeeww!) Plus, we had several playdates with friends this week. We're getting really excited about Easter next weekend! We're staying here and I'm looking forward to having a holiday morning in our own home. I'm hosting a big Easter Egg hunt for the playgroup this week at the park so I have many many eggs to fill between now and Wednesday. But, it is going to be soooo fun to see all of the kids going after the eggs. Last year, Logan wasn't even walking so our Egg Hunt wasn't as exciting. It's so hard to believe how much everything can change in a year.
Logan has started stringing words together and saying some 3 syllable words. The other day he said "eat yogurt" all on his own. He also says "Mommy's drink" or "Daddy's water." It's a little sad to hear him start saying some things correctly. He's now saying "Daddy" instead of "Dadden" and "Granddad" and "Cracker" correctly without the cute little growl. But, it is so interesting to hear him saying new things every day and see him really start to share his opinions. It's like a karaoke party every night when he requests the songs that we'll sing before bedtime. He'll say "row row" or "ABC's" (neither of which are lullaby's but, who cares?!) and many others...It's pretty funny. And, he has to have 2 blankets, his puppy, Nemo and book to be tucked into bed. This kid definitely knows what he likes, LOL.

A Budding Artist

We drove in from TX on Monday. I had gotten Logan a dr. apt for 4pm so we had to move quickly to get on the road and make his appointment. He was still running fever then, and they said there was fluid in his ears. So....for the first time EVER my baby was put on antibiotics!!! We've tried to take it easy this week to give him time to recuperate. I didn't keep the boys on Tuesday since Logan was running fever late in the day on Monday, so we just stayed in both yesterday and today. I wanted to give him a little something fun to do in the house so today we painted!!

Here's the before shot...

Working hard at his picture

He's having fun!!

Afterwards while we were cleaning up-so cute!

Logan's just talking and talking. He's learning his colors and can recognize blue, yellow and green. He can now count to 3!!! We play hide and seek all of the time and he loves to count and then come find us. He also LOVES trains and says "choo choo" and signs "train" everytime he sees or hears one. (For those of you who don't know-we live really close to the train tracks.) He also loves to sing and dance. When I'm singing to him before he goes to bed, he's started requesting what song he wants to hear. And, he'll chime in with the ABC's and say the letters he knows. It's hilarious! He's also starting to string some words together. Today he dumped an entire salt shaker in the living room and then said "all gone." I couldn't help but laugh...
Things with us are busy as always but going well. We really enjoyed our trip but it was so sad that Logan wasn't feeling well. Shane's gearing up for storm season when all his guys will be running crazy, which means he'll be running crazy. We're trying to plan a few trips for the Spring/Summer and are determined to have some relaxing time!! Things are getting green here (you can kind of see our trees in the back in the pictures above.) Come on springtime!!!

I do have to vent about one thing though, and I'm sure you Mommies can understand...sometimes I just want 2 seconds to myself. I swear, he will be perfectly fine doing something and then as SOON as I leave the room he's running after me! I cannot even use the bathroom on my own. The other day he had big old crocodile tears because I shut the door to the bathroom. Really?? Sometimes a girl just needs a little privacy. I love him dearly, but sometimes he drives me nuts. Whew. It's exhausting sometimes! Then, the day is over and it's fixing dinner, bathing babies, reading books, storytime, bedtime, husband time.....where is the me time?? So, I wind up staying up late at night because it's the only time that I have just for me all day long-no one to wonder what you are doing or to check in with, no one to worry that they're dumping salt all over your living room or highlighting on your pillows....Okay, vent over : )

Catching Up

I'm back up and running! We're still in TX visiting my parents but thanks to my brother, my computer is BACK! I'm very excited. He wound up and just cleared everything off my harddrive and started over. THANK YOU Marty!!! I'm very excited to be back to blogging....
Poor Logan isn't feeling well. We went yesterday to meet my cousin Spencer's new baby Mitchell and Logan went downhill pretty quickly. We thought he was just over tired, but he was running a low grade fever when we got back to my parents house. He seems to be doing better today but it's still 99.2 degrees. So, I guess I'll try to get him into the doctor to get his ears checked when we home tomorrow.
I'll post with more updates soon, but I wanted to catch up on some pictures...Enjoy!
Uncle Marty, Aunt Jill and Logan last nightLook at that face!! LOLThis was Mar 13 when my Mom came and stayed a few days with us. This was right before she left...saying Goodbye! Logan's friend Paxton's birthday party on Mar 7

These were taken a few weeks ago (Feb 28) when my parents came to visit. We were getting ready to go out to dinner.

This is just a funny picture that is so typical of our family. Logan in my lap while I'm trying to sort through paperwork and file things. And, Lucy at our feet right in the middle of it all. A very typical morning at our crazy house!!! LOL

So over my computer...

Well, I've spent the last two days working trying to get my computer back up and running full-speed...I don't think that I have made much progress. I did buy an external hard drive and got all of my pictures backed up so that is a relief!!! But, apparently I have some malware and spyware so I am trying to get rid of that. I'm soooo sick of listening to my computer "spin" to process all of these scans. I can't wait until I'm all up and running again!!! I am sooo behind on all of my emails, not to mention my online bill paying....more updates soon--I promise!

Camera Issues...

Well, I have MAJOR camera/computer issues right now. I am unable to get my photo program to open at all on my computer. Therefore, I have wonderful pictures on my camera but I cannot get them onto the computer or onto my blog. BOOOO!!! I'm not sure what we're going to do...Shane messed with it forever over the weekend and we can't figure it out. Luckily, I can see the folders where my pictures are--so I know that they are not lost. I need to get an external hard drive to back them up before I continue messing with it anymore.

Otherwise, things here are going good. My parents were here over the weekend which was wonderful! Logan loved seeing them, and they couldn't believe how much he had grown. We went out to dinner on Saturday night which was so nice! Shane and I hardly ever do this, so it was such a treat. We were sad to see them go! Luckily, my Mom will be back in about a week to hang out with me and Logan while Shane goes on a trip.

I have been trying to prioritize things in my life lately! I have been getting pretty stressed out over things which has lead me to reevaluating what I am devoting my time to. I'm remembering that I am a stay at home mom so that I can be relaxed and devote my time to my son. But, I also MUST keep up some sort of "Kami" life that is mine and has nothing to do with being a mother...does that make any sense at all??

I have a dog evaluation on Sat which I am organizing. This always involves many many phone calls and emails trying to get everyone scheduled and set up. Plus, I will be at the eval all day on Sat. I'm still organizing a playgroup out here which has grown to about 25 moms!!! I am super excited about that. Luckily, my friend Megan is helping me keep up with everything. We're averaging 2-3 playdates per week. AND, I am still babysitting 2 days a week. Whew. Oh--and did I mention that the last time Lucy and I volunteered she decided she was afraid of the dark plastic crate??? So, we've been in serious training mode. I have probably spent hours and hours training with her over the last few weeks trying to get her ready for our visit on Thurs. (She has to ride in a crate to go up the elevator at the hospital.) Most of you know that I do NOT fool around with my dog training, so I'm not playing with this one. We're determined to work through it!!! You should see me jumping around like an idiot and crawling in the crate with her....TONS of positive reinforcement is the key!! Luckily, I have a friend on back up for our visit on Thurs if I do not think that she is crate ready yet....the odd thing is that she jumped in just fine on our first visit! I just do not get it....

Moving on...otherwise my volunteer stuff is going good but keeping my busy. I've committed to 2 monthly visits at the hospital, and 1 at another facility for children with behavioral disorders. I've also committed to do at least 1 visit per month at the hospital that I delivered Logan in when they launch their pet therapy program this summer. I"m also still hoping to pop in at the nursing home that we've been visiting over the last year, but my babysitting has made me unable to attend my normally scheduled time. And, we're in the midst of starting a therapy dog organization in the area to assist in launching pet therapy programs and provide support to other pet therapy teams. This also requires LOTS of emails and usually a meeting per month.

Logan has a bit of a cough right now, so we stayed in today. I'm hoping that he is feeling much better tomorrow! He hasn't ran a fever, so I'm hoping that it's just a mild cold. He's also still getting into everything...last week he climbed up on the dining room table and got a pen. Not only did he open it, but he drew all over his legs. He's also talking and talking. Granddad taught him to say "two" after he shoots a basket this weekend!

Hopefully, I can update with pictures soon....
