Looney Bin anyone?!?
We've had a busy few weeks since Christmas!! Sorry for my lack of blogging, but we've all been sick since the New Year and we've been focusing on getting well!
On Dec. 28 I turned THIRTY!! We had a wonderful dinner with my family. I really enjoyed being close enough to celebrate and have them over for dessert at our house! I guess this is/was a big birthday for me, but only in a good way. I celebrate every year and look forward to many more birthdays!
The morning after my birthday I woke up sick. I mean--sick. I didn't sleep much the night before and was soooooo achy and feverish. I was in bed all that day and the next before getting to the dr. on Wed. afternoon. Turns out, I had a bacterial throat infection which required antibiotics. The doctor said that my throat was incredibly swollen despite having my tonsils removed. He gave me a shot of antibiotics to give me a boost before we headed to the pharmacy. I was in bed for another few days after that. So much for celebrating the New Year with friends! This is the second year in a row that I have been incredibly sick right after my birthday. (Just in case you don't remember last year, you can read about it here: http://kamionedayatatime.blogspot.com/2009/01/soooooooo-sick.html) While I was sick, both Shane and Logan began coughing. They both went to the doctor this Monday and were both also put on antibiotics, Logan for an ear infection and Shane for bronchitis!! Now the entire family is on antibiotics and recovering. Hopefully, we're all on the mend and gearing up for a good 2010!
Logan is going through a major "why?" phase. I knew this was coming but I don't think that I could have possibly prepared for it. Everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) is followed by "why?" or "why not?" this is an actual conversation from this morning:
L: "Mommy! I want some milk please."
K: (heads to the kitchen to get milk)
L: "Mommy! What are you doing?"
K: "getting your milk"
L: "Why?"
K: "because you said you wanted some milk."
L: "Why?"
K: "I don't know why, Logan. You're thirsty?"
and it goes on....
Arrrrgggghhhhh.....it's exhausting. I have found myself resorting to "because I said so" more often then I care to admit. Not to mention the antibiotics that he's on are upseting his stomach which is giving him a terrible diaper rash. So, he fights me tooth and nail for every diaper change. Have you ever tried to wrestle a 38 pound toddler with no diaper and poop on his bottom? I have and it is NOT FUN. (Side note: Potty training??? Ever?? Will you ever happen??) He's also going through a little separation anxiety right now. I cannot leave the room without, "Mommy!! Where are you going?" (which, of course, is immediately followed by a "why?") We went to playgroup this week and he sat in my lap the entire time. It's just not like him....
I have to say that this stay at home mom thing is not for the weak!! I LOVE him dearly, he truly lights up my life. The majority of the time he has wonderful thoughts and cracks me up with his comments, but I have to say that sometimes, he simply drives me nuts.
In other news, Lucy and I are in the works to get on with Methodist City Children's Hospital in Dallas. We're really excited about this opportunity and getting back into the swing of things with our volunteering. Shane and I are working on getting my sewing room up and going ASAP which will be wonderful. I've had quite a few orders over the last couple months which is super exciting!! I can't wait until all my sewing stuff is organized and I can really get down to business here.
